Overhead crane alerting with a repurposed WACS system

A radio transmitter mounted on the overhead crane triggers, above each access door to the handling zone, a floor-projected warning message visible to any pedestrian before they even step through the door.

HOW IT WORKS

01 — TRANSMIT

Movement detection

The transmitter mounted on the overhead crane continuously broadcasts a signal whenever the crane is in operation.

02 — RECEIVE

Two access points covered

A receiver is fixed above each access door leading into the overhead handling zone.

03 — PROJECT

Warning projected on the floor

The receiver drives a projector that displays "ATTENTION MANUTENTION EN COURS" directly in front of the door.

WHY THIS APPROACH

Pedestrians are warned before entering the zone, rather than relying on a fixed sign they might overlook.
The alert only appears while the crane is actually moving, avoiding the desensitization effect of a permanent sign.
The WACS system, originally intended for a different purpose, is reused here with no extra hardware to develop.
